Most of what this club offers costs nothing — the guides, the calculators, the race calendar and the self-assessment with a coach-written plan are all free and always will be. This page covers the things that are paid for.
What is free
You never pay for, and we will never ask you to pay for:
- Reading anything on this website
- The self-assessment screens and the free strength training plan the coach writes from them
- The pace calculator and race calendar
- Coming to try a Sunday group run
What is paid for
The club charges for personal services delivered by the coach — including assessment and workout planning sessions, personal coaching, structured training programmes, and paid places at club events or trips. Fees are agreed with you directly before anything is booked. There is no payment system on this website; nothing is charged automatically and no card details are stored here.
Service fees are non-refundable
Once a service has been booked and the fee paid, that fee is non-refundable. This applies where:
- You change your mind after booking
- You cancel a scheduled session, at any notice
- You do not attend a session you booked
- You stop part-way through a programme you have paid for
- You are unable to attend for personal reasons, including work, travel or illness
The reason is straightforward and we would rather explain it than hide it. When you book a session, the coach reserves that time and turns down other work for it. When you commission a training programme, the work of writing it is done before you see it. That time cannot be recovered if you do not turn up.
Cancellation and no-shows
To be explicit, because this is the most common question:
If you cancel a scheduled session, or do not turn up for one, the amount paid is non-refundable. This applies regardless of how much notice you give and regardless of the reason. The session is treated as having taken place.
The coach reserved that time for you and turned down other work to hold it. That time cannot be recovered.
We may, entirely at our discretion and as a goodwill gesture, offer to move a session where you have given good notice and there is a genuine reason. That is a courtesy, not an entitlement, and it creates no right to a refund or to a rescheduled session. Please do not book on the assumption it will be offered.
If the coach cancels
The same standard cuts both ways. If the coach cancels a scheduled session — for any reason, including illness or a last-minute personal one — you choose what happens next:
- a full refund of the amount paid for that session, or
- the session rescheduled within 30 days
It is your choice, not ours, and we will ask you rather than assume. There is no charge or penalty either way. Where you choose to reschedule, the session will be held within 30 days. If we cannot find a slot in that window, you get the refund instead.
The same applies where a session cannot go ahead because weather, air quality or ground conditions make it unsafe.
If you are injured or unwell partway through a multi-session programme, talk to us. We would rather pause it and resume when you are ready than have you train against medical advice. Sessions already delivered are not refundable.
Where we will refund or reschedule
A non-refundable policy is not a licence for us to take your money and not deliver. You will receive a full refund where:
- The coach cancels a scheduled session, for any reason — refunded in full, or rescheduled within 30 days, whichever you prefer
- We cancel a programme or event and cannot offer you a suitable alternative
- We are unable to deliver what was agreed
- An event we ourselves run is cancelled
Where a third-party race is cancelled by its organiser, the entry fee is governed by that organiser’s policy — we do not hold that money and cannot refund it. If the organiser refunds anything we hold on your behalf, we pass it straight on.
What the fee buys, and what it does not
This is the part most refund disputes actually turn on, so we would rather set it out plainly than leave it implied.
A fee buys the coach’s time, attention and expertise. It does not buy a result. We will give you an honest, evidence-based programme and coach you properly. We cannot promise you a personal best, a finish time, a body weight, a place in a race, or freedom from injury. Nobody can, and you should be sceptical of anyone who does.
Accordingly, we do not refund fees on the basis that you are dissatisfied with your results, including where:
- You did not achieve a time or distance you were hoping for
- You did not lose weight or change body composition as you expected
- You got injured during or after a programme
- You improved more slowly than you expected, or not at all
Response to training varies enormously between individuals and is substantially inherited — in one study of 481 people following an identical programme, some gained almost nothing while others gained a great deal. We say this in our guides and we mean it here too.
This does not cover a service that was not actually delivered, or was delivered badly. If the coach failed to turn up, failed to provide what was agreed, or was negligent, that is a different matter and is covered above.
Things outside our control
Where a session, programme or event cannot go ahead because of something neither of us controls — weather, air quality, flooding, a public authority’s order, transport disruption, a venue closing, a race organiser cancelling, or anything else of that kind — we will reschedule where we reasonably can. Where rescheduling is not possible, any refund is limited to sums we have actually received and not already spent on your behalf.
We may also change the time, route or venue of a group run at short notice, usually for safety reasons. That is not a cancellation and does not create a refund.
If you become unable to take part
If a doctor tells you not to run, or you develop a condition that makes participation unsafe, tell us. We will pause your programme and resume it when you are cleared, or hold the balance as credit, valid for that calendar year. We would rather do that than have you train against medical advice. What we will not do is refund fees for time the coach has already spent.
If you are still unable to return before the year ends, talk to us before the credit lapses rather than after.
Third-party race entries
Where the club helps you register for a marathon, half marathon or other event organised by someone else, that entry fee is governed entirely by the organiser’s own refund policy, not by ours. We do not hold that money and we cannot refund it. Most Indian race entries are non-refundable and non-transferable — check before you enter.
If you are unhappy
Tell us. Email contact@gurugramamaturerunnersclub.in or phone +91 95823 01820, and say what went wrong. We will respond within seven days, and if we have not delivered what we agreed, we will put it right.
Changes
If we change this policy, the version that applies to you is the one in force on the day you booked and paid.
